Why Concierge Commerce isn’t just for Hotels

In this article, Prommt co-founder, Eileen Carroll shows how a ‘concierge commerce’ approach to payments with Prommt can deliver benefits beyond the hospitality sector.

Anyone who has ever had an inconvenient payment experience at a hotel can appreciate how a more personal approach to payments can vastly improve things. Many hotels are already providing concierge-like payment experiences for their guests using our payment communications platform Prommt.

And while the hospitality sector may be driving the move towards frictionless payments, clearly other sectors can also benefit. Before I delve into these other sectors, here are a few examples of “Concierge Commerce” in action for hotels.

3 Concierge Commerce examples from Hospitality:

  1. Direct Phone bookings: If a potential guest rings a hotel it is an ideal opportunity to turn that call into a booking and save on 3rd party booking fees. For example the reservations staff at Flannery’s Hotel in Galway can customise a hotel stay and use Prommt to request a secure deposit while the guest is still on the phone.

  2. VIP experience: It’s nice to relax when you’re on vacation without having to reach for your card all the time. Castleknock Hotel are one of the hotels loving Prommt’s Autocharge (card on file) feature, which means fully frictionless payments for their guests.

  3. No front desk queues: what hotel wouldn’t want to save guests from tedious waits at the front desk and settle accounts in advance? Now they can achieve this by sending a friendly pay by link message in just a couple of clicks using Prommt.

Now let’s see how these concepts translate to other sectors…

5 other sectors that can benefit from Concierge Commere;

  1. Luxury goods: Prommt customers Thadeus London and Bvlgari London are showing how the luxury sector is embracing our payments technology to deliver perfectly tailored, personal experiences for their elite customers.

  2. Automotive: Taking phone deposits or payments on vehicles, services or parts can be a point of friction in the automotive industry and leads to insecure card handling practices. Prentice BMW in Portadown are doing away with outdated methods of card handling and sending a payment link instead which is easy and secure for both the customer and the business.

  3. Retail: The 1933 Furniture Company sends Prommt payment requests to customers in advance of furniture deliveries, which makes it simpler and quicker for the customer to pay versus older methods, and reduces any cash on delivery exposure for the business.

  4. Hardware and Builders providers: Similar to the retail use case above, builders providers like MP Moran and Grange Builders Providers are eliminating the risk of COD exposure and reducing the time it takes to get paid by integrating Prommt payment requests into their billing process. Customers are responding well and paying in under three minutes on average.

  5. Insurance: Contact centre staff at Carrot Insurance send secure payment links to customers whilst speaking to them on the phone or on LiveChat, giving them the flexibility to transact immediately.

“With Prommt’s multi-user capabilities, Carrot Insurance has empowered their contact centre staff to accept card payments for any renewals, new sales, or mid-term adjustments via Live Chat and over the phone.” Carrot Insurance Case Study

I am sure there are plenty more use cases for payment requests and if you have any thoughts I’d love to hear your comments below.
